Training Plan Overview

The primary use of the Training Plan is to provide a road map to guide supervisors and their employees in creating a list of trainings for the employees to complete during a specific period of time.

The Job Titles that a supervisor assigns to an employee are mapped to the PACSETI curriculum. Supervisors use these titles to recommend trainings for the employee to help expand his/her knowledge, skills and abilities. Once the employee completes a Training Plan, the employee and the supervisor review the Training Plan to help the supervisor in developing the next Training Plan.

A by-product of the Training Plan is the information provided to PACSETI regarding the employee’s needs for a specific period of time. This allows PACSETI to focus its training efforts and help supervisors meet their employees’ needs. PACSETI is also able to determine if a large number of individuals are looking for a specific course and post the course on the schedule so all interested individuals are able to attend in a timely manner.

A supervisor can create a Training Plan, but it is designed to promote discussions between supervisors and their employees that provide the employee with goals to meet within a period of time. The lifespan of a Training Plan can last anywhere from three months to a year, or to any length of time that is deemed appropriate. The supervisor can specify a name and set the effective dates upon creation of a Training Plan. Both the supervisor and the employee can add activities to a Training Plan and update the name and effective dates if needed.

Open/Closed Training Plan

Open: While the training plan is open, the employee and supervisor may work together to determine training that is most beneficial during an upcoming period of time. The employee may complete the activities and both the employee and the supervisor may review the completed activities. Notifications that the employee and/or supervisor has opted to receive relating to the training plan are sent while the training plan is open.

Closed: When the training plan is closed, the employee and supervisor can only view a plan and reference it for historical purposes. All notifications relating to the training plan will cease after the training plan is closed.
